WHY SEL
It is important that we remember the importance of SEL. As Natalie says, "Relationships will eat curriculum for lunch" - We can not forget to make meaningful connections with our students, and them with each other. Use the SEL lessons to provide conversation and community circles to help build classroom culture.
Yes deep breathing an Yoga can help, but nothing is more important than the relationships kids have with you. If they like you, they will do anything for you.

- Teachers are not limited to day or time due to flexibility needs in schedules, however, Wednesdays are a PERFECT day for SEL! :)
- You may split up the activities throughout the day or days, or follow in a sequential order.
- Feel free to make a copy and change it as you see fit, or assign it to students on Google Classroom.
- Please pick/choose and adjust lessons as needed based on developmental level & time.
- Greeting (Warm up/Introduction)
- Story/Clip Share (Discussion)
- Activity (Skill Practice) and/or Movement Companion Activity
SAFTEY REMINDER
Students and staff are still catching COVID. If you are exposed you do not have to stay home unless you have systems, but you should test and take precaution.
We have masks, hand sanitizer and wipes available. See Amber the health clerk if you need any PPE. No one is required to wear a mask, but you may, what every you are comfortable with, same applies for all students.
Unvaccinated are still testing weekly using the provided at home test. You may take what you need.
I want you to feel supported and safe, so please communicate needs.
Nuts and Bolts
Make sure you let us know what you are teaching, the students should know the objective of the lesson they are learning. They should have Essential Questions that they can answer at the end of the lesson.
Make sure you are aware of the standards you are teaching, AND the rigor of those standards. Do not rely on the curriculum to meet the rigor. I placed an ELA standards progression document in your box.
RENEE HILL - Will be stopping by sometime in the month of September. She will be walking every classroom and be looking for:
Standards and teaching to the rigor of the standards
On the spot intervention (evidence of small group instruction)
DOK 2 and 3
Student learning artifacts
