Good Morning Harrison Tigers-100 Mile Club T-shirt orders will be placed ONCE a month, at the end of every month. If you order a 100 Mile Club T-shirt at the beginning of the month, please expect to wait for it for several weeks to receive it. You can order the t-shirt at any time using the link below/

Message for Teachers- Please either leave students slips in Nicole Wobken's box or add them to the Track the Miles website when they bring them to you from Wednesday. Please make sure you add your name to the slip so that I know which class the student is in. Most times it is just a first name with the last initial so it makes it hard to know which class the student is in. (: If students have laps on their hand on Friday, please make sure to either add those to the website, or email them to me. (:

If you need help with adding miles to the Track the Miles website, please come see me in Room 8.

WHY SEL

The curriculum app should be loaded in your Clever Portals and READY TO GO!  Woohoo!
*If you don't have access, please let Clarissa know asap.

Second Step Teaching Guidelines:
  1. Tier 1 District & schoolwide SEL curriculum taught by classroom teacher once per week (your choice of day/time)
    • K-1: 15-20 minutes
    • 2-6: 25-30 minutes
  2. Scripted lesson plans and support for teachers to guide conversations (minimal prep!)
  3. There are engaging handouts, songs, and videos included
  4. There are daily practice activities to extend the learning (7-10 minutes per day)
  5. Second Step has 4 units; each unit is comprised of 5 lessons per grade + Brain Builder Games
    • *6th grade has 6-7 lessons per unit with 200 advisory activities
  6. Please begin with Unit 1: Growth Mindset and Goal setting; the lessons are taught in sequential order for the most bang for your buck!
  7. Each unit will end with a performance task that serves as a summative assessment to directly apply learning and for teachers/counselor to see visible evidence of students' learning.
  8. Attached are the Alignment Charts with the Common Core Standards so that you can use Second Step as an ELA grade! 🎉🥳
Support options:
-On demand training within the platform (Program walk-through, Unit Quick Start Guides)
-I would also be happy to assist you in any way you need!  :)   Please don't hesitate to reach out!

REPORT CARD INFO LINK

Make sure you let us know what you are teaching, the students should know the objective of the lesson they are learning. They should have Essential Questions that they can answer at the end of the lesson.

Make sure you are aware of the standards you are teaching, AND the rigor of those standards. Do not rely on the curriculum to meet the rigor. I placed an ELA standards progression document in your box.
